Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week – Cobie Fletcher-Vance (October 3)

Your Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week is Cobie Fletcher-Vance. Vance had a grand slam and 5 RBI in the deciding game of the Southern League championship series to give the Pensacola Blue Wahoos the league title. Vance sparked come-from-behind wins in back-to-back elimination games to lead Pensacola. In Game 2, he tied the game with a late RBI, then scored the go-ahead run. In the deciding Game 3, his grand slam in the 5th erased a 3-2 deficit. Vance was 4-for-9 with 6 RBI in the final two games.

Runner-up this week is Josh Jacobs. The Las Vegas Raiders rode Jacobs to its first win of the season by giving him 84% of the team’s touches. Jacobs responded with career bests of 144 yards rushing and 175 yards from scrimmage, along with 2 touchdowns. Jacobs’ 33 touches (28 carries, 5 catches) was also a career high.

Derrick Henry had 114 rushing hards and 147 yards from scrimmage.

Damien Harris ran for 86 yards and touchdown.

Trevon Diggs, over the course of 2 games (Week 3 Monday game and Week 4), defended 6 passes and had 2 interceptions. Diggs’ 9 total passes defended lead the NFL by 3.

Over the course of 2 games, Xavier McKinney had 11 tackles, a tackle for loss, and a pass defended.

Jonathan Allen had 8 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, a sack, and a blocked pass.

Daron Payne had 5 tackles, a tackle for loss, and a pass defended.

Jarran Reed had 8 tackles and a sack.

Quinnen Williams had 6 tackles and a sack.

Dalvin Tomlinson had 4 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble.

Rashaan Evans had 10 tackles and recovered a fumble.

CJ Mosley had 11 tackles and defended a pass.

Eddie Jackson had 9 tackles and an interception.

Minkah Fitzpatrick had 8 tackles, defended 2 passes, and returned an interception 34 yards.

Patrick Surtain II had 8 tackles and defended 2 passes.

Ricky Tarrant was named Finals MVP after leading TED Ankara Kolejliler to an overtime win in the Turkey Federation Cup championship. Tarrant scored 25 points, along with 6 rebounds and 7 assists, in the championship game.

Mykal Riley scored 18 points and added 5 rebounds in a 1-point win for Besançon.

Trevor Lacey had a 15 point, assist game in Cremona’s season-opening win.

Alex Reese scored 32 points and added 15 rebounds for Amicale Steesel in a win.

Daniel Giddens had a 12 point, 8 rebound, 5 assist game in his debut with Shonan United in Japan.

Saketh Myneni reached the doubles semifinals of an ATP250 event, and moved up to a career-best 89th in the world doubles rankings.

Nick King had 21 point, 8 rebound and 21 point, 11 rebound games for Soles de Mexicali in its playoff series.

Brandon Austin had 26 points and 7 rebounds in his season-opening game in Romania.

Cheyenne Knight shot a career-low 63 and finished T-5th at the Ascendant LPGA for her 3rd Top 5 finish of the season.

Kristen Gillman won the Monday qualifier for the Ascendant LPGA in a playoff.
