The news on Irv Smith Jr.‘s ankle injury wasn’t good today. Smith is expected to be sidelined 8-10 weeks with a high ankle sprain, and was placed on Injured Reserve today. Smith could hopefully be back in time for the playoffs.
One of the surprise moves at the NFL’s trading deadline today was the Atlanta Falcons moving Calvin Ridley to the Jacksonville Jaguars for draft pick compensation. Ridley is currently suspended for the 2022 season for placing a bet on a football game. The draft pick involved could be anywhere from a 2023 6th round pick to a 2023 5th round pick and a 2024 2nd round pick, depending on reinstatement date and performance milestones.

Betsy Harris makes her debut as head women’s basketball coach of East Central Community College in Decatur, Mississippi tonight. Harris, who had a successful career as head coach of Florida Southern College, returned to her native Mississippi in the off-season to take over the ECCC program.
