Alabama players dominated the Week 12 player of the week awards, with Josh Jacobs being named AFC Offensive Player of the Week, Jalen Hurts the NFC Offensive Player of the Week, and J.K. Scott the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. All three are first-time honorees.

Jacobs joins Shaun Alexander (seven-time winner), Derrick Henry (seven-time winner), Mark Ingram (two-time winner) and Eddie Lacy (two-time winner) among Alabama running backs who have previously won the award. Hurts is the third former Alabama quarterback to be win the award, joining Jeff Rutledge (1990 Wk 2) and Tua Tagovailoa (Wk 2 of this season). Scott becomes the second Alabama punter to ever win the award, joining Chris Mohr (1994 Wk 2).

The last time three Alabama players took received Player of the Week honors on the same week was 2018 Week 13, when Amari Cooper, Eddie Jackson, and Cyrus Jones were honored.

Josh Jacobs was also named FedEx Ground Player of the Week. And for a little levity, he was also the Week 12 Nickelodeon Valuable Player.

The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame announced its 2023 class today, with Roman Harper, Gerald Wallace, and Jackie Sherrill being among those who will be enshrined in May.

Marc Spears of Andscape and ESPN profiles Herb Jones, and highlights how Jones lives modestly and wants to be an All-NBA defender.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Najee Harris didn’t suffer a major injury when he left Monday night’s game with an abdominal injury. Harris didn’t practice today, and his status for Sunday is yet to be determined.

Onetime Alabama kicker Gabe Giardina has been named head football coach at Charleston Southern University. Giardina, who was most recently the head coach at Albany State University in Georgia, was a member of the football team under Mike Shula, and would begin his coaching career at Alabama as a graduate assistant under both Shula and Nick Saban.
