In Memoriam
Former Alabama running back Ahmaad Galloway was found dead in his St. Louis apartment on Monday. Galloway was 42. No cause of death has been determined. Galloway played at Alabama from 1999 through 2002, before spending time in the NFL. Galloway was most recently working as a teacher at Compton-Drew Middle School in St. Louis.
Former Alabama Track & Field coach John Mitchell died recently. Mitchell coached at Alabama from 1969 through 1986, and won both indoor (1972) and outdoor (1980) SEC championships. He coached Alabama track legends Calvin Smith, Pauline Davis, and Lillie Leatherwood, among others. He was inducted into the USTFCCCA Coaches Hall of Fame in 2007.

Jerry Jeudy has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 18. Jeudy had a career-best 154 yards receiving, and added another 39 yards rushing to lead Denver to a win in its season finale. It’s the first Player of the Week award for Jeudy, and the 8th time a wide receiver from Alabama has won the award (Julio Jones has won four times previously, and Amari Cooper has won it three times).
The NFL Players Association announced its inaugural All-Pro Team today, and Josh Jacobs, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Patrick Surtain II were named to the team.
In a radio interview today, Houston Texans general manager Nick Cesario gave an update on John Metchie’s health status. Cesario said that Metchie was making “amazing” progress, and could be ready to return to football activities at the beginning of Houston’s off-season program in April Metchie was diagnosed with a form of leukemia in July 2022, and missed the 2022 season while receiving treatment.
Miami head coach Mike McDaniel said today in his press briefing that Tua Tagovailoa has not cleared the next steps in the concussion protocol, and won’t be available to play during this weekend’s wild card game. Meanwhile, ESPN has a lengthy piece on Tagovailoa’s concussions this season and what he’ll need to consider with respect to his football future.

Phillip Sims has been named head football coach at Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Former Alabama baseball star G.W. Keller has been promoted to Chief Deputy of the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. Keller, who played and Alabama 1997-1999 and was drafted by the Oakland Athletics, has been employed by TCSO since 1994.
Former Alabama football walk-on turned actor Brandon Moore makes his debut on Law and Order tonight.
Keon Ellis scored his first NBA points on a 3-pointer in the closing minute of Sacramento’s blow-out win tonight.

Vox Media Studios released a trailer to its upcoming series Full Swing, which will air on Netflix. The golf-centric series will include Justin Thomas, among other A-list golfers.
