Daily Recap – February 11, 2023

News

Olivia Fotopoulou had a day to remember today. In the span of 2 hours at the Indoor Athletics Day in Greece, she set 3 new personal bests and broke Cypriot national records. Fotopoulou broke the 9-year-old 60 meter indoor national record in the semifinals, then improved on her new record again in the finals. She followed that up by shaving 2/100ths of a second off the 200 meter record that she set last year.

A week after finishing second in a photo finish to Noah Williams, Jereem Richards flipped the script against his Adidas teammate today at the Millrose Games, winning the Men’s 400 Meter in a season-best 45.84 seconds.

Collin Sexton became the 8th former Alabama player to reach the 5,000 point plateau in the NBA tonight. Sexton came into tonight’s game needing 7 points to reach the milestone, and did it in the first quarter, when he scored 7 of Utah’s first 11 points. Sexton needed just 262 games to reach the mark.

Jalen Hurts’ improvement in reading defenses this season is a by-product of quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson simplifying his reads.

Community Outreach

The New Orleans Pelicans hosted a clinic today at its practice facility, with Herb Jones leading participants through some drills.

Derrick Henry met with veteran families at the USAA’s Salute to Service booth at the Super Bowl this week.
