Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week – Lee Hodges (July 31, 2023)

Your Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week is Lee Hodges. Hodges won his first career PGA Tour tournament with a 7-stroke win at the 3M Open. Hodges, -24, led at the end of all four rounds of the tournament.

Runner-up this week is Davis Shore. Shore picked up his first professional win with a 1-shot victory at the Osprey Valley Open on PGA Tour Canada.

Kimberley Ficenec won the Women’s 800 Meter at the Czech Men’s & Women’s Track Championships.

Cherisse Murray won the Women’s Shot Put at the NAAA Trinidad & Tobago Open Championships.

Filippa Fotopoulou Kviten finished 2nd in the Women’s Long Jump at a meet in Luxembourg.

Tyler Gentry was 9-for-17 (.529) with 2 home runs and 4 mult-hit games (including a 4-hit game). Gentry had an on-base percentage of .619 and a slugging percentage of 1.000.

Dylan Ray pitched 7 scoreless innings and picked up his fourth consecutive win. Ray has now allowed only 2 runs in his last 31 innings, covering 5 starts.

Ed Johnson had a 4-hit game in his second professional game.

David Robertson picked up a hold in his final Mets game and a save in his first Marlins game.

Anton McKee (200m Breaststroke), Kristian Gkolomeev (50m Freestyle), and Rhyan White (200m Backstroke) all advanced to the finals in their events at the World Aquatics Championships.

Tevin Mack scored 17 points for Heartfire in the quarterfinals of The Basketball Tournament.
