Nick Dunlap defeated Neal Shipley 4 & 3 to win the U.S. Amateur Championship in Denver today. Dunlap, who also won the the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in 2021, becomes only the second golfer in history to win both events (Tiger Woods won both events three times). Dunlap is also only the second Alabama golfer to win the U.S. Amateur, and the first since Jerry Pate in 1974.

Daniel Haugh finished 6th in the Men’s Hammer Throw at the World Athletics Championships with a throw of 78.64 meters. The throw was a season-best and an international-best for Haugh, and his 6th place finish was his best finish in 4 world championship competitions.

Annika Zeyen had another successful paracycling weekend – this time at the European Championships in Rotterdam. Zeyen won the gold medal in the H3 Handbike time trials and the silver medal in the road race.

Herb Jones reflects on signing a four-year contract this off-season.
