Wilson Furr, poised to clinch his PGA Tour card after a strong 2nd and 3rd rounds at the Korn Ferry Championship, held the course and finished T-6th. The finish vaulted him from 32nd to 24th in the points, giving him one of 30 PGA Tour cards awarded to Korn Ferry Tour graduates. It wasn’t without drama, however. Furr bogeyed 2 holes on the back 9, and missed the fairway on 18, where another bogey would have dropped to the brink of the Top 30. Furr scrambled for par, and earned his card. It culminates a season where Furr missed 5 cuts in his first 8 events, got shuffled down the priority list, and had to battle back up the priority list to get the starts to make today possible.
Kristen Gillman entered today T-18th at the Epson Tour Championship, but needed to get inside the Top 10 to have any chance of moving into the Top 10 in overall tour standings. Gillman was -5 through 16, then birdied 17 and eagled 18 to finish T-4th at the tour championship. She moved up from 13th to 10th in the final standings, and secured the final LPGA Tour card by about $1,500. Gillman was languishing around 60th in standings until a 2nd place finish in August jumpstarted her season. She closed the season with 3 straight Top 5s and 6 straight Top 25s to get the 10th sport. Gillman returns to the LPGA Tour, where she played from 2019-2021 before losing her card.
Gillman’s former Alabama teammate Jiwon Jeon, who clinched her card mathematically 3 weeks ago, finished 4th in the final standings and was officially awarded her card today as well.
Calvin Ridley had 122 yards rushing on 7 catches and 14 rushing yards on 2 carries to help Jacksonville to a win over Buffalo in London. Ridley gained first downs on 8 of his 9 touches today.
Tua Tagovailoa threw for 308 yards today, giving him 1,614 passing yards through 5 games. That’s the most-ever by a Miami Dolphins quarterback through 5 games.
