Merel Van Dongen has been transferred by Atlético de Madrid to Rayadas de Monterrey of Liga MX Femenil. Van Dongen, who signed with Madrid in 2020, has played 101 games with the side, winning Supercopa and Copa de la Reina in separate seasons. Van Dongen has served as a team captain the past three seasons. She joins Rayadas just before the start of the 2024 season, which kicks off on Friday. She joins the same team that signed Tanna Sánchez Carreto to her first professional contract in December.
