Minkah Fitzpatrick is the winner of the 2024 Bart Starr Award. The award, which is voted on by fellow players, honors a player for his outstanding character, integrity and leadership on and off the field. FItzpatrick is the first former Alabama player to win the award, which is named for the former Alabama quarterback.

Today’s extensive list of players who’ll be missing this weekend’s regular season finales includes DeVonta Smith, who will miss his first game in three years in the the NFL. Smith suffered an ankle injury late in last Sunday’s game against Arizona.
Bud Cauley, who last played in a tour event at the Safeway Open in September 2020, announced this evening that he will be in the field for the two upcoming Korn Ferry Tour events in the Bahamas. Cauley will then presumably play PGA Tour events on a major medical extension.

Patrick Kaukovalta has been named to the Finnish squad for its upcoming Davis Cup tie against Portugal.
The newly-minted UFL held two dispersal drafts today, wherein surviving teams from the XFL and USFL drafted players from the rosters of teams being liquidated. Reuben Foster has reportedly been selected by the Houston Roughnecks, while Chris Owens has been taken by the Arlington Renegades. Official dispersement lists should be released in the next day or so.
