News

Nick Dunlap, -29, won the American Express by a stroke, and became the first amateur to win PGA Tour event since 1991. Dunlap becomes the youngest winner on the Tour since 1993, and second-youngest since 1934. Dunlap also becomes the only player in history to win the U.S. Junior Amateur, the U.S. Amateur and a PGA Tour event as an amateur.

Dunlap began the day with a three-stroke lead, which evaporated on 7 when he found the water and ended up with a double bogey (which was only his second hole all week that he didn’t score par or better). Dunlap found himself down a stroke after 11, but rallied for birdies on 14 and 16 to regain the lead. He got up and down on 18 for par to seal the victory. Dunlap now has Tour membership, once he decides to turn pro.

Justin Thomas didn’t have the putting touch that he had yesterday, but finally found it on the last 5 holes, as he birdied 3 of the last 5 holes to move into a third place tie to get his 2024 season off to a good start.

Cheyenne Knight had a strong finish in the final round at the Hilton Tournament of Champions to secure a T-4th finish at the LPGA’s season-opening event.

Erin Routliffe and partner Gabriela Dabrowski advanced to the Australian Open quarterfinals with a three-set win today.

Jahmyr Gibbs scored the go-ahead touchdown late in the 3rd quarter to lead Detroit to a 31-23 win over Tampa Bay in the NFL Divisional Playoffs. Gibbs finished with 74 yards rushing and 40 yards receiving.

Merel Van Dongen scored her first goal since joining Rayadas de Monterrey in today’s 3-0 victory.
