The NFL Combine continued today, with linebackers and defensive linemen doing measurables, and defensive backs doing media sessions. Terrion Arnold drew rave reviews with his press conference, and he’d also make the interview rounds. Dallas Turner had a strong showing the 40 yard dash, vertical leap, and broad jump, with measurements in the 93rd or higher percentile in all three tasks.
Alabama Swimming alum Stefan Gherghel won two medals at the World Aquatics Masters Championships. Gherghel took the gold medal in the Men’s 100m Backstroke in the 45-49 age group in a time of 1:01.61. He’d also add a silver medal in the Men’s 100m Butterfly with a 58.00 second swim.
Butch Hobson recently returned to Tuscaloosa to speak to a class for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the Bryant Conference Center. Hobson, the winningest manager in indepedent baseball history, revealed that he will not be returning to coach the independent Chicago Dogs this season.
Ignacio Ortega led CD Ilunion to the Copa del Rey wheelchair basketball championship earlier this week. Ortega was named tournament MVP.
