Peyton Wilson had the first multi-home run game of his career this afternoon, as he hit a pair of 3-run homers to give Northwest Arkansas a 9-5 win over Springfield. Wilson’s 10 total bases and 6 RBI are also career bests.
Herb Jones finished 5th in the voting for NBA Defensive Player of the Year. He was highest finisher among wing and perimeter players.
Spencer Turnbull made a relief appearance tonight for just the second time in his major league career – and the first time since his MLB debut on September 14, 2018. Turnbull pitched a scoreless 7th inning as a September call-up for Detroit that day, then made 3 starts to finish the season. All other appearances since then (up until tonight) were starts.
Shaquera Wade was named to the All-Defensive Team in the Women’s British Basketball League.
Kristen Gillman got through the US Women’s Open qualifier in Dunwoody, Georgia, and joins the field for the USWO. She joins fellow qualifiers Jiwon Jeon and Lauren Stephenson, as well as Cheyenne Knight (who was already exempt) in the field. Stephanie Meadow birdied the final hole to force a playoff for the final spot at the Scottsdale, Arizona qualifier, but lost in the playoff. She is 1st alternate from the site.
