News

At the rain-plagued Rothesay Open in Nottingham, England, Erin Routliffe and partner Gabriela Dabrowski had to win three matches in a span of about 24 hours to take the championship. Routliffe and Dabrowski won a semifinal match in straight sets this morning, then took the finals in a three-set match a few hours later. Routliffe and Dabrowski saved a match point in the tiebreaker set, before proceeding to win the last three points of the match to clinch the victory. The title marks Routliffe’s 22nd career doubles title, and her 6th on the WTA Tour. Routliffe and Dabrowski have now won three titles as a duo.

Kristen Gillman’s 7th place finish today at the Meijer LPGA Classic is her first Top 10 on the LPGA Tour since the Volunteers of America Classic (T-8th) in December 2020, and her best LPGA finish since the Buick LPGA Shanghai (T-3rd) in October 2019. It’s her 6th career Top 10 finish.

Kenzie Wright posted a career-best T-5th finish at the Otter Creek Championship on the Epson Tour, and her second career Top 10 finish. Wright had missed 7 of 8 cuts this season coming into this week’s event.

Also at the Otter Creek Championship, Lakareber Abe finished T-13th for her best finish since a T-3rd finish at the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic in March 2020.

Deonte Brown missed most of the UFL season with an injury, but was active today for Birmingham’s 25-0 championship win. It’s Birmingham’s 3rd straight spring league championship, with the previous two coming in the USFL (with the now-retired Bo Scarbrough on the team’s roster).
