Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week – Nick Dunlap (July 22, 2024)

Your Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week is Nick Dunlap. Dunlap rallied on the back nine to win the Barracuda Championship for his second PGA Tour win this season. Dunlap is the first golfer ever to win on the PGA Tour as both an amateur and as a professional in the same season.

Runner-up this week is Lauren Stephenson. Stephenson broke through for her first professional win at the Epson Tour’s Twin Bridges Championship . Stephenson, who led most of the tournament, won by 2 strokes.

Others of note:

Keon Ellis had a 29 point, 6 assist, 4 block game in the Las Vegas Summer League.

Jaden Shackelford averaged 16.7 points per game in his last three Summer League games.

Noah Clowney had an 18 point, 5 rebound, 4 assist Summer League game.

Tyler Gentry was 4-for-10 with 2 homers in his three games this week.

Peyton Wilson had a 2 home run game for Northwest Arkansas.

Andrew Pinckney had a 3-hit game for Harrisburg.

Sam Gardner struck out 6 batter in 2.1 innings.

Will Carter had 3 scoreless innings wtih 4 strikeouts.

McKinley Crone made 5 saves and an additional 2 saves on penalty kicks in her professional debut for Orlando.

Celia Jiménez Delgado scored a goal in her first game back after being sidelined for three months.

Elina Sinz finished T-7th for her second straight Top 10 finish on the Women’s All Pro Tour.

Jiwon Jeon finished T-13th on the LPGA Tour, which was a career-best finish.

Daniel Haugh won the Men’s Hammer Throw at a meet in Switzerland.

Jereem Richards won the Men’s 200 Meter at a meet in Switzerland, and finished 3rd with a personal-best time in the Men’s 400 Meter at the Diamond League meet in London.

Christopher Robinson finished 2nd in the Men’s 400 Meter Hurdles in his professional debut at a meet in Florida.

Margaux Maquet won three qualifying matches and a main draw match at the ITF event in Morocco.
