NFL teams were allowed to begin assembling their 16-man practice squad rosters today, following the conclusion of the waiver claim period for players waived yesterday. Nine Alabama players who were waived or released yesterday were included on team-announced practice squad rosters (see Transactions below).
David Robertson moved into 12th place for career strikeouts by a relief pitcher, passing former teammate and Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera. Robertson now has 1,137 career strikeouts.
Free agent Kira Lewis has signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Washington Wizards. The Exhibit 10 contract includes training camp participation, and allows the team to allocate the player to a G League affiliate if the player is waived during camp.
Alabama Women’s Basketball’s Del’Janae Williams will begin her professional career with The Address UCC Glanmire Basketball Club in Ireland.
ESPN has greenlighted a new 30 for 30 film titled “The New York Sack Exchange,” which will look at the New York Jets’ fabled defensive line of the 1980s. Marty Lyons was a prominent member of the defensive line.

Tua Tagovailoa’s foundation, The Tua Foundation, recently provided a grant for a new flag football field at Pinecrest Elementary School in South Florida.
