Filip Planinsek won his first professional title today with a hard-fought, three-set win over Florian Broska. Planinsek finished the week by going to three sets in three of his five wins, with two of the three-setters surpassing 3.5 hours. Planinsek is the first Alabama Men’s Tennis alumnus to win on the ITF Futures Tour since Saketh Myneni did so in April 2018.

Merel Van Dongen announced on social media today that she plans to retire from professional soccer after Rayadas de Monterrey’s appearance in Campeón de Campeones on July 16. Van Dongen just recently agreed to extend her contract with Monterrey by one month to allowe her to play in the club’s two matches this month. We’ll have much more on Van Dongen’s retirement later this month.

Kool-Aid McKinstry hosted his inaugural youth football camp at Pinson Valley High School in Birmingham this weekend.
