Today was “Golf’s Longest Day,” the annual 36-hole single-day US Open final qualifying held at several sites around the country. This year’s version had PGA Tour members Bud Cauley, Davis Riley, Lee Hodges, Korn Ferry Tour members Robby Shelton, Davis Shore, and PGA Tour Americas member Charlie Nikitas competing at four different sites. Nobody advanced to the US Open, with Cauley coming the closest (finished 1 shot out of a playoff. Nikitas’ participation was noteworthy because he played in Mexico yesterday and had to catch an overnight flight to Ohio to make his tee time.
