Daily Recap – December 16, 2020


Derrick Henry picked up another FedEx Ground Player of the Week for Week 14.

Derrick Henry is also one rushing touchdown away from becoming just the fourth player in NFL history with at least 1,500 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns in consecutive seasons (Shaun Alexander is one of the other three).

On a similar note, Derrick Henry high school clips never get old.

Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts are both nominated for the Pepsi Rookie of the Week for Week 14. Tagovailoa was the winner for Week 13.

Trevon Diggs returned to practice today in Dallas. Diggs has missed the last four games with a fractured metatarsal, and appears to be a step closer to returning from Injured Reserve.

Justin Thomas is confirmed as a participant in January’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Collin Sexton missed another pre-season game tonight with an ankle sprain, but Coach J.B. Bickerstaff indicated that Sexton would play the final pre-season game Friday, and should be ready for the opening of the season.

Irv Smith Jr. had a media session with the Viking beat reporters today.

Community Outreach

Shelby McEwen did a PSA for USA Track & Field on how to report sexual harassment or misconduct to the USATF.

Raekwon Davis announced plans to sponsor a Toy Drive-By in Meridian, MS on December 22-23 at the Boys and Girls Club of East Mississippi. The drive-by will serve up to 700 youths aged 5 to 17.

Gehrig Dieter’s Dieter Dream Foundation is running a raffle to raise money for Operation Breakthrough, a Kansas City based child advocacy organization.

Quinnen Williams will be giving $500 to 100 single-parent families in the Birmingham area for the holiday season. Application deadline is December 16.

Mark Barron, in conjunction with TAP Inc., will be giving $1,000 to 15 families in the Mobile area for Christmas. Application deadline is December 21.

Dont’a Hightower is down to just a handful of available ornaments in his autographed ornament fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association.
