Your Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week is Daniel Haugh. In a stacked field at the USATF Olympic Trials in Oregon, Haugh secured a spot on the USA Olympic Team by finishing 2nd in the Men’s Hammer Throw competition. Haugh’s final throw was a personal-best 79.39 meters, which places him fifth in the world for 2021.

Abbas Qali won the Men’s 50m Butterfly and the Men’s 100m Butterfly events at a meet in Slovenia over the weekend. Qali reached new personal bests in both events, and exceeded the Olympic standard with a 53.28 second swim in the 100m Fly.
Olivia Fotopoulou finished first in the 100m, the 200m, and the 4x100m relay at the European Athletics Team Championship (Third League) over the weekend. Fotopoulou ran a personal-best 23.31 seconds in the 200m race.
Lauren Stephenson finished a career-best T6th at the Meijer LPGA Classic. She was -18 for the event.
Filippa Fotopoulou finished second in the Women’s Long Jump at the European Athletics Team Championship (Third League).
Wade LeBlanc worked 3.1 scoreless innings in his return to the majors for St. Louis.
Jimmy Nelson was credited with holds in both of his outings, and struck out 4 batters in 2 innings of work.
