In Memoriam
KEITH MCCANTS (1968-2021). Former Alabama linebacker Keith McCants was found dead in his home in St. Petersburg, Florida today at the age of 53. Investigators believe he died of a drug overdose. McCants, whose off-the-field problems after his NFL career have been well chronicled, but he seemed to have turned a corner in recent years. He befriended St. Petersburg city councilman (and current mayoral candidate) Robert Blackmon several years ago, spoke to groups about his past troubles, and even had a hip replacement surgery recently.
McCants was the 4th overall pick by Tampa Bay in the 1990 draft, and would play in 88 games over six seasons with Tampa Bay, Houston, and Arizona.
Blackmon shared these clips of McCants below, and also posted a tribute to his friend on Facebook.

JIM FULLER (1945-2021). Former Alabama player and assistant coach Jimmy Fuller died late yesterday due to complications from COVID-19. Fuller played on the 1964 and 1965 national championship teams, and served as an assistant coach under Ray Perkins, Bill Curry, and Gene Stallings, with whom he’s win another national championship in 1992. Fuller also had stints as head coach and athletic director at Jacksonville State University.
