NFL Draft – Day 2 Recap

The Detroit Lions traded up to take Brian Branch with the 14th pick of the 2nd round (45th overall). He joins Jahmyr Gibbs in this year’s draft class.

Action really picked up in the third round. Tyler Steen was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 2nd pick of the 3rd round (65th pick overall). Alabama’s Byron Young went 7 picks before Tennessee’s Byron Young (who had been expected to be picked higher. Young was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders with the 7th pick of the 3rd round (70th overall pick). Jordan Battle was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the 32nd pick of the 3rd round (95th pick overall). And Cameron Latu went to San Francisco with the 38th pick of the 3rd round (101st overall).

Former Alabama linebacker Drew Sanders, who played his final season at Arkansas, was also drafted, as he went to the Denver Broncos with the 4th pick of the 3rd round (67th overall pick).

Other News

Bryce Young arrived in Charlotte for his first day as a Panther. In his introductory presser, Young stated that being the first pick doesn’t entitle him to anything. See clips below.

Will Anderson was formally introduced at a press conference in Houston. Anderson talked about the Alabama connection with head coach DeMeco Ryans, and Ryans indicated that Anderson would be used as a defensive end in their system.

Jahmyr Gibbs expressed confidence in his abilities at his introduction in Detroit.

Jason Bohn, who turned 50 earlier this week, made his Champions Tour debut today. Bohn was an alternate coming into the week, but a spot cleraed form him prior to the start of today’s opening round.

Community Outreach

Levi Wallace announced plans to host his annual football camp on June 17 in Tucson. Wallace will actually hold two separate camps for different age groups.

Mack Wilson will host his 2nd annual Celebrity Softball Game in Montgomery on June 24.
