News

The fact that it was in a walkover doesn’t matter – Alexey Nesterov has won his first professional tennis title. Nesterov, playing in only his fifth ITF World Tour tournament since he graduated from Alabama in 2021, won the doubles title at the tour’s even in Tunisia this week.

Shyheim Carter has been elevated from the practice squad for Tennessee’s game tomorrow. If he’s active (and it’s pretty rare that an elevated player isn’t active), he will finally make his NFL debut four years after he played his list college game. Carter has spent time on the practice squads of Tennessee, Atlanta, and Houston, but has never before been elevated for a game. Carter had even returned to Alabama to serve as a graduate assistant before being re-signed to a practice squad.

David Robertson and the Miami Marlins clinched an NL wild card spot with tonight’s win over Pittsburgh. Robertson will play in the post-season for the 9th time in 15 seasons.

The Philadelphia Inquirer has an opinion column on how Jalen Hurts cuts against the grain in how the masses view modern-day quarterbacks.
