Frankie Capan shot an astounding 58 in the opening round of the Veritex Bank Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour. Capan’s -13 round, which included 11 birdies and one eagle, is the third round of 58 or better in Korn Ferry Tour history, and ties the lowest 18-hole score relative to par in Tour history.
Miguel Pate, who started his collegiate career at Meridian Community College before competing as a track & field athlete at Alabama, was inducted into the Mississippi Community Colleges Sports Hall of Fame this week. Pate is current on staff at Alabama as an assistant coach for the track & field team.
The Portland Thorns (Reyna Reyes) and NJ/NY Gotham (Nealy Martin) are among the seven announced participants in the inaugural CONCACAF Women’s Champions Cup. The Cup competition has four to-be-determined teams, with Rayadas de Monterrey (Merel Van Dongen and Tanna Sánchez Carreto) being in line for one of the slots. Final draw and schedules to be announced in early June.
Benedetta Moresco made her LPGA Tour debut at the JM Eagle LA Championship today. Moresco started the week as first alternate, got into the field after a withdrawal on Tuesday.
