Daniel Haugh and Shelby McEwen are going back to the Olympics. At the USATF Olympic Trials in Oregon, Haugh won the Men’s Hammer Throw with a season-best throw of 79.51 meters. Shelby McEwen continued his season-long dominance of the Men’s High Jump with a winning jump of 2.30 meters. Both Alabama alums previously competed in the Tokyo Olympics, and are both defending USATF Indoor Champions.

The Fotopoulou twins continue to dominate the Cyprus National Senior Championships. Olivia Fotopoulou won the Women’s 200 Meter today to complete a sweep of the 100 Meter and 200 Meter events. Filippa Fotopoulou Kviten won the Women’s Long Jump today as well. And both sisters were part of the gold-winnings Womens 4×100 Meter Relay team. Olivia has now won 7 straight 100 Meter golds, 4 straight 200 Meter golds, and 2 straight 4x100M Relay golds, while Filippa has won 4 straight Long Jump golds and the same 2 straight 4x100M Relay golds.

Kimberley Ficenec won the Women’s 800 Meter at the Czech Men’s and Women’s Track Championships for the 3rd time in 4 years. Ficenec posted her second personal best in the last two weeks, winning in a time of 2:00.68. has shaved 3+ seconds off of her Czech 800m championship time from last summer (2:03.99).

Nick Dunlap closed out a successful week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic with a Top 10 finish. Dunlap’s T-10 was his best PGA Tour finish since turning pro after winning the American Express as an amateur.

Lakareber Abe, playing in just her second career LPGA event, took advantage of the Dow Championship sponsor exemption and, along with partner Georgia Oboh, finished T-8th in the partner event.

Ed Johnson drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the bottom of the 8th inning to give Florence a 5-4 win over Gateway.

Community Outreach

Levi Randolph hosted his annual basketball camp and Summer Classic celebrity basketball game in Huntsville yesterday. Among those attending or participating in the basketball game were Kira Lewis, Herb Jones, John Petty, Reggie Ragland, Chris Hines, Trevor Lacey, and Nick King.
